Miami River Bird List

Birds are indicators of a healthy ecosystem.  The Miami River Watershed supports a large number of species.  The river itself, the lake, the riparian cover along the river, the East Sector forest and the many parks and gardens in the Village all play a role.

The species listed have been observed from 1992 to date by a local Streamkeepers who resides in Harrison Hot Springs.  Sightings included on the list are made within the boundaries of the Village of Harrison Hot Springs. Birds marked with an asterisk are very rare and, in some case, a single observation.
