A variety of native trees, shrubs and herbaceous flowering plants thrive in the riparian area along the Miami River Greenway. Many have showy, fragrant flowers like wild rose, and mock orange. Others have berry crops eaten by birds and mammals such as red osier dogwood – a favourite of the pileated woodpecker- and cascara utilized by many song birds. Locally native plants are available from Birch Grove Nursery on Hot Springs road.
